Dot Cotton Crafts
Rachel of Dot Cotton Crafts draws inspiration from nature and this is evident in her hand painted laser cut wooden jewellery. This Sheffield based maker comes from a long line of crafters, in fact her great grandmother is a keen artist to this day, at 104 years of age!

Get To Know Me

I'm Rachel, the designer-maker behind jewellery and greetings card brand Dot Cotton Crafts. I'm a big fan of all things botanical, the countryside, gardening, birds and recycling. My favourite colour is teal (evident in my jewellery) and I have to admit I'm a complete chatterbox!
My journey into self employment began in 2015 after a period of ill health and sadly, bereavement. Searching for greater happiness and more work/life balance, these huge life changes prompted me to take the plunge and turn a lifetime hobby of making into a business; and so Dot Cotton Crafts was born. The name comes from my Uni days, when my email address 'rachel.cotton@...' was read allowed (to the amusement of my friends who were Eastenders fans) earning me the nickname 'Dot Cotton'! It was whilst studying Medical Science that I first realised how important being creative was for my wellbeing. My course was hectic and I would often enjoy unwinding from a stressful day by making cards for friends/family, labelling them as handmade by 'Dot Cotton Crafts'. Little did I know this would become my future career 10 years later! I now run Dot Cotton Crafts full time and sell my work in gorgeous, independent gift shops, online and at local craft markets. I count myself incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love for my job; to be able to share my passion for creativity, love of nature, but most importantly... to spread a little JOY with my creations!
